Inaugural BizBuzz Camp for Kid Entrepreneurs

BizBuzz is a nonprofit organization started by Aarav Khullar and Allen Xu, two juniors from Naperville North High School.  BizBuzz is a “free entrepreneurship camps for students in third to ninth grade to help them find their passion for entrepreneurship and learn new things while developing creativity, problem-solving skills, and just about anything in between,” said Allen Xu, co-founder of BizBuzz. 

Khullar and Xu came up with the idea on a late night phone call in April.  The two recruited twenty instructors to help facilitate the program which had about 70 students per session.

After six weeks of sessions which included lessons from the BizBuzz team, activities and games, guest speakers, and business applications, the students got to pitch their ideas in a two-day BizBuzz Fish Tank.  The students each had five minutes to present their business ideas to guest judges.  On day one 50 teams pitched their ideas and 12 made it to the finals.  Each of the twelve teams received a reward for making it to the final round and the top five were given sponsorship funding for their businesses. 

The winner of the first BizBuzz Fish Tank was Garrett Hauk for an alternative dog treat business.
